COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT FOR EDUCATION

The visitation to Keke B ward was carried out on the 7th of April, 2019. The Chairperson of GCC, Dr. Mairo Mandara led the team to the community. Hajiya Umma Iliyasu gave the introduction on the purpose of the visitation asa need to meet with the community members, re-evaluate the progress made so far on the established sensitization campaign on keeping girls in school, delaying early marriage, safe space session on adolescent girls and married women. She also spoke on the health service delivery- a cause for which GCC provided a health post centre.

Dr. Mairo highlighted the importance of the girl child education as a prerequisite of a solid home/family foundation. She mentioned that the government is putting tremendous effort into girl child education yet, girls, particularly in the northern part of this country are denied the right to education.

The team struck up a conversation on what the needs/requirements of the community keeping girls in school. The traditional ruler of Keke B ward applauded GCC for its commitment and gave assurance of his community’s support at all times
