GCC has over the years been enthusiastic about the Girl Child Education as well as female empowerment. Annually, our Female Students Scholarship Scheme (FSSS) records a remarkable number of girls graduating from secondary schools. Upon graduation, and empowered with basic skills to better their lives, GCC secures admission for these girls into Universities home and abroad to further pursue their academics.
On 13th July, 2019, 11 girls from Borno State graduated from GGSS, Kawo in Kaduna. The girls are beneficiaries of the FSS Scheme project of GCC. One of the Students, Hauwa Muhammad, an orphan girl from Gadaka in Yobe state emerged the overall best student in the school. She emerged as the best in 7 subjects and was also overall best student in the WAEC Examinations in the school. She has currently been awarded scholarship and admission into the University of Maiduguri to study Medicine.Hauwa on behalf of the girls expressed delight and appreciation to GCC for giving them the opportunity to build a decent life..
Today we celebrate Hauwa Mohammed, a young girl Girl Child Concerns took from Borno IDP camp in Borno 6 years ago. Today Hauwa is the best student at GGSS Kawo and scored 248 in the recently announced JAMB. Hauwa wants to study medicine and has selected ABU Zaria s her University of first choice. As we celebrate this landmark achievement, GCC wishes to thank our many donors and supporters. We will closely follow Hauwa nd other 55 students who graduated today with flying colours to make sure they continue to pursue their dreams.
